Joe 'Creaky Bones' Crawford

Having graduated in English Literature with Creative Writing (2:1) from Lancaster University in 2012, I decided to stay for one more year as a performer in the North West to start an ambitious project.

I realized in my last year on campus that I had barely ventured into the town of Lancaster, let alone played my blues in front of others. After graduating, I set myself the goal of drawing out the local talent into Lancaster's bustling music community. I succeeded in fuelling my dream to make live music performance my business.

I found that one of the best ways to improve my playing was to perform in front of an audience, and so I found work in live music bars where I could. I spent the year working in pubs, cafes and eventually as a content writer for an SEO company. The working side of life provided me the opportunity to learn about the working world, how to support myself, and what I needed to learn to get ahead of the competition.

When I wasn't working, I was playing in every open mic I could find until I was offered paid gigs. A year learning from some of the finest musicians in the North West has inspired me to make live music my career. At present I am living in Liverpool attempting to continue my work as a peformer and promoter. I am working as a volunteer at a recording studio and trying to build my status up in Liverpool.

I have a very strong background in theatre and performance, and have realized my dream to inspire people through music. The blues is a universal genre that never fails to reach me, and I am always interested in finding old Delta Blues artists such as Blind Willie Johnson and Robert Petway.

That's me!
